I met this guy who is an ex-police officer at the hardware store while he was riding his vintage Russian type BMW motorcycle. But yesterday I had to help him load the crippled up motorcycle into a trailer.
Apparently he was riding behind an 80 year old man who entered an intersection with another 82 year old from Florida coming from the other direction. The two old men got confused, and stalled for a moment while the two made up their minds about making a left hand turns.
The Ex-cop motorcyclist who realizes that most motorcycle accidents happen at intersections, slowed down to about 10 mph as he approached the intersection. Then the 82 year old decided to make the left hand turn.
The ex-cop on the motorcycle kissed the front bumper of 82 year old’s car. While the ex-cop was laying on the ground in pain injured waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Officer Martin from Morro Bay’s finest got all mouthy with him because he wanted to see the guy’s motorcycle endorsement. (Come on Martin, a guy at his age with a vintage bike?)
Martin as well as the others said that they could tell he wasn’t speeding because the motorcycle was still in front of the car where it was hit and the rider had not gone over the hood. But Martin found a witness who said he was speeding so Officer Martin wrote it up as a no fault accident.
Now the ex-cop is stuck with a towing bill, a bill from the ambulance company, a hospital bill and a motorcycle that may never make it back to the original condition. (He said that he would probably have to rebuild the motorcycle as a military spec, because the original forks are most likely none existent.
The Captain of Morro Bay’s finest would not take a statement from the Ex-cop because he said that the case was closed. Now the ex-cop is waiting for a hearing in small claims court as an effort to get restitution from the whole ordeal.
The Ex-cop/ motorcycle rider said, “Martin just flat out lied to me, right to my face. It’s nice to know that others are acquainted with Martin. You know, he’s the kind of cop who wants people to get into it with him. he’s looking for trouble.” I said, “Everyone around here knows that. He’s a loaded gun.”
The Ex-cop said, “You know, he’s the kind of cop who looks forward to the day he gets to shoot somebody.” “Yeah, I know I almost got tazed by him.”

Yea sometimes some cops just have an attitude, and pick on people that they decide not to like. I hope that Martin gets put in his place, and relegated to a desk. Some people are quite obviously not equipped mentally to handle the sort of social power that being a peace officer entails. I hate to think of all the other people this officer has lied, and stretch the law to mess over. Being a motorcycle rider, myself, I feel for the ex/cop. I hope he had enough experience to take this case where it needs to go. Sad day when we have to worry as much about the cops, as other people.
